Calls to Action

In partnership with InnerView, these Calls to Action form a powerful and ongoing series of creative challenges. Each challenge focuses on a different issue, empowering young people to use the arts for self-expression, empathy, and positive impact. These simple yet meaningful initiatives invite students to reflect deeply on their inner and outer worlds and respond through diverse media like photography, poetry, visual arts, and film.

Flip the Switch!

How much electricity are you consuming right now? For most of us, access to electricity is something so woven into our daily lives that we tend to take it for granted. Whether it’s keeping medical equipment cool, ensuring clean water, or making late-night studying possible, electricity is crucial to human possibility. Yet as you read this text, nearly 750 million people worldwide are living without this foundation of modern life.

In celebration of the International Day of Light on May 16th, Creative Visions invites you to join in the recognition of light as the force that turns potential into progress. Take a moment to pause, disconnect, and create a piece of art that reflects on what electricity makes possible, and who is left behind without access to its benefits.

  • Voices of Home: A Creative Call to Action for International Mother Language Day

February 21st is International Mother Language Day, a day created to promote, preserve, and protect all mother tongues, especially those at risk of extinction.

This could be, but is not limited to, a poem that weaves together multiple languages you speak, a visual artwork incorporating the script or symbols of your mother tongue, a short story about what language means to your family, or a recording of a song, proverb, or story in your mother language with a reflection on why it matters to you.

  • “A Pocket of Hope” Card

For World Refugee Day on June 20th, we honor the millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes. Many are children facing uncertain futures.

With this in mind, we ask you to create a unique card—a small but powerful gift of hope, strength, and welcome. With very few words, or no words at all, your art will send a universal message of encouragement and belonging. This card is a symbol of your compassion, reminding refugee children that they are not alone and that their dreams still matter, and that all of our stories are interconnected.

  • Food, Culture, and Connection: Unique & United Challenge

Food is more than something we eat — it’s a story, a memory, and a bridge that connects us to others. It’s one of the many ways we express who we are and how we belong. In that same spirit of connection, Creative Changemakers invites you to explore another Creative Visions program called Students Rebuild, which invites young people around the world to take creative action for global good. This year’s theme, Unique & United, celebrates the beauty of our differences and the strength that comes from coming together as one community.

*For every piece of creative expression or youth engaged in the Call to Action, Creative Visions make a $5 donation to one of our Impact Partners. Learn more about Students Rebuild and our Impact Partners here.
